The Journal of Guangdong Polytechnic Normal University is a comprehensive academic publication administered by the Department of Education of Guangdong Province and sponsored by Guangdong Polytechnic Normal University. First issued in 1980 in Tongshi, Hainan, it was previously titled Journal of Guangdong University for Nationalities, Journal of Guangdong Vocational Normal University, and Journal of Guangdong Polytechnic Normal University. In 2020, following the university’s renaming and development, and with approval from the National Press and Publication Administration (Approval No. 2199 [2019] of the National Press and Publication), it officially adopted its current name: Journal of Guangdong Polytechnic Normal University.

The Journal of Guangdong Polytechnic Normal University is a bimonthly publication, printed in 16‑K format, and is distributed both domestically and internationally. Its domestic serial code is CN 44–1746/Z, and its International Standard Serial Number (ISSN) is 2096–7764. The journal publishes six issues per year. Issues 1, 2, 4, and 5 are dedicated to the humanities and social sciences, while issues 3 and 6 focus on natural sciences. The humanities and social sciences edition covers disciplines such as education (vocational education), ethnology, Marxism with Chinese characteristics, literature, linguistics, management, economics, sociology, law, art, and cultural studies. The natural sciences edition primarily includes disciplines such as mathematics, physics, computer and information science, mechanical engineering, control science and engineering, electronic engineering, intelligent manufacturing, optoelectronic engineering, educational technology, library and information science, and physical education. Upholding its mission to “stay true to its original aspiration, lead innovation, showcase outstanding work, support growth, and promote exchange,” the journal has long focused on societal change and kept pace with the times. The journal is locally grounded and academically focused, centering on national development strategies and societal transformations. Building on the university’s disciplinary strengths in vocational education and ethnology, it features key sections and specialized columns including research on the localization of Marxism in China, vocational education studies, and ethnological research.

Through the joint efforts of several generations of leadership and editorial staff at the Journal’s Editorial Office, the Journal of Guangdong Polytechnic Normal University has continually improved its academic standards. It is now indexed in the Chinese Social Sciences Citation Database, included in the Chinese Core Journals Selection Database, fully accessible via the China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), and recognized as an RCCSE China Core Academic Journal (2017–2019). In recent years, numerous academic papers published in the journal have been reprinted by secondary literature sources, including Xinhua Digest, Chinese Social Science Digest, reprinted materials of Renmin University of China, China University Academic Abstracts, and Journal of Peking University (Journal Overview).
