Rongjun Chen, Ph.D., Professor and Doctoral Supervisor, serves as the Associate Dean of the School of Computer Science. He holds key positions including Program Leader for the Internet of Things (IoT) Engineering, Deputy Director of the Guangdong Engineering R&D Center for IC Design and RFID, and Assistant Director of the National-Local Joint Engineering Laboratory for IoT Chip and System Application Technology, also recognized as a Talent in Guangdong Higher Education Institutions' "Thousands-Hundreds-Tens Project" (at the university level). He has chaired international conferences, including serving as General Co-Chair for BICS 2019 and Network Support Chair for IEEE RFID-TA 2010. Professor Chen serves as the Commissioner for Enterprise Science and Technology in Guangdong Province and the Commissioner for Rural Science and Technology in Guangzhou City. His professional affiliations contain roles as a Science/Popular Science Expert at China Science and Technology Press, Committee Member of the Food Safety & Information Traceability Branch (China National Food Industry Association), member of the China Computer Federation (CCF) and Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence (CAAI), and Committee Member of the Medical Information Engineering Branch (Guangdong Biomedical Engineering Society). His research and teaching expertise encompasses the IoT, Artificial IoT (AIoT), embedded applications of perceptual and cognitive intelligence, intelligent image perception and processing, information perception and control technologies for uncrewed ground/aerial vehicles, blockchain and big data industrial applications, large language models and embodied intelligent systems, and innovative education technologies. Professor Chen has led or participated in over 40 national and provincial research projects, publishing more than 60 SCI/EI-indexed papers (including 2 ESI Highly Cited Papers). He has applied for over 100 invention patents (with more than 60 granted) and published one provincial-level local standard for IoT applications. His extensive recognition includes over 80 honors and awards, such as the National Excellent Patent Award, the Guangdong Province Science & Technology Achievement Promotion Award, and the First Prize in the Guangdong Higher Education Teaching Achievement Award. Major enterprises, including Guangdong Radio & TV Group, Baiyunshan Hutchison Whampoa, Eastcompeace, and Midea, have successfully implemented several of his patents and research outcomes.
