On June 24-25, the graduation ceremony and degree awarding ceremony of the school in 2025 were successfully held at the Student Activity Center of Baiyun Campus and the Comprehensive Hall of East Campus. All school leaders attended the ceremony, members of the school's degree evaluation committee, relevant officials from various functional departments and colleges participated in the event, and witnessed this important moment carrying the memories of youth with 645 graduate students, 9371 undergraduate students, and 31 international students studying in China. The ceremony was presided over by Sun Yanqing, member of the Standing Committee of the School Party Committee and Vice President.
The ceremony kicked off with the majestic and passionate national anthem, and everyone stood up and sang the national anthem together.
Dai Qingyun, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President of the school, expressed congratulations to the graduates on behalf of the school and paid high respect to the hardworking teachers, relatives and friends, as well as the alumni and friends from all walks of life who care about the school, under the title of "Self improvement in Growth". Dai Qingyun emphasized that the world is currently undergoing unprecedented changes, and the rise of "China's Progress" against the wind fully demonstrates the superiority of the socialist system and the strategic leadership of the Party Central Committee's series of policies. In the past four years, the school has entered a period of rapid development. Approved for the establishment of doctoral degree granting universities in 2021; In 2022, the comprehensive construction of digital campus was launched, and the school's network infrastructure and digital intelligence level were significantly improved; By 2023, achieve a series of zero breakthroughs, including the second prize of National Teaching Achievement Award, the first prize of Guangdong Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award, and the second prize of Ministry of Education Science and Technology Progress Award; In 2024, the engineering discipline will rank among the top 1% globally in ESI, with 5 new master's degree programs added. The Baiyun campus library will be completed and put into use, and the school's football team will win the national championship, greatly enhancing the school's visibility and reputation; This year, the school was awarded the title of "National Civilized Campus" and won the gold medal in the Higher Education Growth Track of the National College Student Career Planning Competition. The "College" station was officially renamed as the "Guangzhou Normal University" station, and its social influence continues to rise.
Dai Qingyun pointed out that students are witnesses to the development of the school, and also participants in the school's progress. Among this year's graduates, 111 students have been discharged from the military and resumed their studies, 809 students have proudly become members of the Communist Party of China, and 8537 people have participated in volunteer activities; More than 200 "Millions of Youth Assault Teams" have conducted social practice in areas such as Renhua and Heyuan in Shaoguan. In the "National Innovation Competition" and "Challenge Cup" series of competitions, the school has won over 500 national awards and over 1800 provincial awards, making the school flag fly high on award platforms across the country and making the name of Guangzhou Normal University increasingly famous. Tan Junyang and 8 other classmates, along with teammates from other grades, won the national finals championship of the college men's campus group of the National Youth Campus Football League, writing a football miracle for Guangzhou Normal University.
Dai Qingyun has three expectations for graduates:
One is to accurately understand the changes of the times and seize historical opportunities. I hope that students will keep up with the trend of the times, actively serve the national strategy of technological self-reliance and self-improvement, maintain curiosity about the latest developments in core technologies of the intelligent era such as integrated circuits, humanoid robots, low altitude economy, new energy, new materials, industrial software and other industries, perceive the trend of the times with keen insight, seize historical opportunities with bold actions, and find the right direction in life through continuous exploration.
The second is to actively serve the national strategy and consciously integrate into the main battlefield of the economy and society. I hope that no matter which track students choose, they will firmly uphold their ideals and beliefs, cultivate patriotism, adhere to the school motto spirit of "being virtuous, knowledgeable, and pragmatic", promote and practice the spirit of educators, strive for excellence with ingenuity, focus on innovation, and promote development, and shine in various industries.
The third is to leverage one's own strengths, avoid weaknesses, and continuously learn and grow rapidly. I hope students keep up with the times, continue to learn, and constantly improve their growth rate. Facing the future, we will maintain the spirit of never giving up and becoming more courageous as we face setbacks. With the courage of "knowing that there are tigers in the mountains, we will lean towards them", we will accurately recognize changes, respond scientifically, actively seek changes, follow the light, fly against the wind, and always maintain the quality imprint of "patriotism, practicality, and craftsmanship" of Guangzhou Normal University students.
